Behind the Design: The Little Details That Make a Fette Set
From the curve of a French tip to the tiniest hand-painted detail, here's a look at the thought that goes into our handmade press-on nails.
At Fette, we believe beautiful nails are about more than a pretty design.
They're about proportion, balance, colour and, perhaps most importantly, how the finished result looks on your hands.
It's why we can spend a surprising amount of time refining details that might seem insignificant on their own. The exact warmth of a colour, the curve of a French tip, or the size and placement of a tiny painted spot.
These decisions aren't always the most commercially efficient ones. But when we're creating something that someone will wear, enjoy and hopefully reach for again and again, we believe they're worth making.
Same Idea, Three Different Designs
Take these three versions of a fawn-inspired French tip manicure we've been developing.

The concept is the same, but the differences are subtle yet meaningful.
One has a softer, more delicate finish. Another introduces warmer caramel tones, while the third creates a stronger contrast between the brown and the hand-painted white spots.
We consider how the colours blend, how the French tip sits against the natural base, and whether the spots feel balanced across the nails.
Sometimes a sample is already beautiful, but something still doesn't feel quite right. So we adjust it, and try again.

Designing for Your Hands, Not Just the Photograph
One of the most important considerations in developing our handmade press-on nails is how they look when worn.
A design can look wonderful on a display card, but the proportions can feel quite different once it's on your hands.
The shape and length of the nail affect how the artwork sits. A French tip that flatters a longer almond shape may need a different curve on a shorter nail. Even the placement of a small detail can change how elegant or balanced the finished manicure feels.
That's why we look at the colour, shape and artwork as a whole, rather than treating them as separate decisions.
Our goal isn't simply to create nails that look beautiful in photographs. We want to create nails that make your hands look beautiful.

Why the Little Details Matter
As a small, independent brand specialising in handmade, reusable press-on nails, we have to be thoughtful about how we spend our time and resources.
But the decision to refine a design isn't always a commercial one.
Sometimes it means making another sample, revisiting a colour blend or adjusting a detail that most people might not consciously notice.
We do it because we care deeply about what goes into every Fette box, and because we believe that all those small decisions add up to something you can see and feel when you wear the finished set.
Whether it's a simple glossy colour or an intricate hand-painted design, we want every set to feel considered, flattering and worth wearing again.
After all, one of the pleasures of reusable press-on nails is that a design you love can become a favourite you return to, rather than something you enjoy just once.
Which of our three fawn-inspired designs would you choose: 1, 2 or 3?
We'd love to hear your thoughts.
With love,
